As the Official Hotel Partner of the American Cancer Society, Extended Stay America provides free and discounted rooms for patients needing temporary housing while receiving treatment. The American Cancer Society will work with patients to determine eligibility.

American Cancer Society Hope Lodge® communities offer a home away from home for people facing cancer and their caregivers when cancer treatment is far away. Offers free temporary housing for cancer patients who need outpatient treatment. The emphasis is on providing a nurturing, home-like environment that is conducive to healing. Accommodations and eligibility requirements may vary by location.
Provides free local transportation for cancer patients who do not have a ride or are unable to drive. In order to be eligible, patients must be traveling to a cancer-related medical appointment.

For patients who want to learn how to manage the stress that comes from having a major medical illness and to gain strength from others who share the same struggle, there are weekly support groups for LSUHS patients with all types of cancer. These groups are led by a Certified Group Psychotherapist and a registered nurse.
Meets on the second Thursday of every month at Christus Bossier Outpatient Therapy building in Bossier City, and every 4 th Thursday at the Christus Breast Center in Shreveport. Meetings begin at 5:30 PM
